Totally random and written for Jamie ([livejournal.com profile] jamie_spotty) and Peri ([livejournal.com profile] bellemelody).

The deck goes silent suddenly and lights above your head flicker. The sea around hums its midnight melody when you look around; the night breeze is cold, gives you chills. And you don't have your sweater, it lays forgotten on your bed. In your room in the underdeck.

-

The room is simple, no needless decorations. Just a couple of people, only those necessary to be there at the moment. A window is open and lets fresh early February air in. When the couple enters, the time seems to stop for a moment.

-

Kazuya quickly changes his clothes between two shoots and his eyes unwittingly stray to the clock on the wall high above his head. He can't hear the ticking but it feels like he could. Each sound screaming inside his head.

-

Everything is a blur. You hear voices. Distressed, scared. Someone runs around you to the other side of the deck, bumps into you; and you need a couple of weird, slow-motioned minutes to realize what's going on. It's too late when you feel the wet cold touching your feet, slowly creeping up to your ankles.

-

They smile at each other. A lucky smile no one will later believe is real. But they know better. Against the protocol of the traditional ceremony they hold hands the whole time, he squeezes her delicate fingers in his. There is most probably only one person in the whole world who understands what's going on. The one who has stayed by their side until now, and will as well support them and wish them all the best from now on.

-

10 AM. Kazuya is done with his first working obligation of the day. He has some time before an interview at noon. Just enough time to get to the other side of the city. 11 AM. He is on his way, thinking about answers he will give, something that would sound good and true; however, he still finds a moment to stop everything and think of his friends. He is the only one who knows, after all. And they deserve someone to think about them at the moment like this.

-

You feel the water. People around scream and try to get to the lifeboats. You look at them, motionless.

-

Jin says a 'yes'.

-

Kazuya parks the car in front of a high building and takes his phone from the passenger seat.

-

Someone is trying to pull you along but you pluck your hand out of the grip. There is no place for you in the lifeboat. You don't need one. You don't want one.

-

Meisa says a silent 'yes' as well, smiling.

-

A reporter asks Kazuya about baseball. He curls his fingers around a small charm attached to his phone, hands hidden under a table so the reporter can't see it, smiles and starts talking. The enthusiasm is real. He is happy.

-

You feel the water level closes above you and your lungs are slowly filled with water. It hurts but there's no time for crying. This is it, you think. You realize. And yet, you regret nothing.
